Exclusive Interview with Melbourne United Defender Erich Shafer

Reporter: Good afternoon Erich, thank you for taking the time to speak with us. Let's start off by talking about your recent form on the pitch. You've been exceptional so far this season, with four matches played and only four goals conceded. What do you attribute this success to?

Erich Shafer: Thank you for having me. I think my experience as a defender has definitely helped me anticipate plays and make crucial tackles when needed. I also have to give credit to my teammates for their support and communication on the field.

Reporter: It's great to hear that teamwork is a key factor in your success. Speaking of teamwork, how do you feel about your current team ranking being 9th out of 10 teams in the league?

Erich Shafer: It's definitely not where we want to be, but we are working hard to improve and climb up the table. We have a talented group of players and I believe we can turn things around with determination and hard work.

Reporter: That's a great attitude to have. Now, let's switch gears a bit and talk about your personal life. It's been said that you have a wide range of interests outside of football. Can you tell us a bit about that?

Erich Shafer: Yes, football is definitely important to me, but I also enjoy spending time with my family and pursuing other hobbies. I believe in finding a balance between work and personal life, and that helps me stay motivated on and off the pitch.

Reporter: That's a refreshing perspective to hear from a professional athlete. Finally, can you share with us a random interesting fact about your life that fans might not know?

Erich Shafer: Well, one interesting fact about me is that I used to be a competitive chess player before I fully committed to football. I think playing chess helped me develop strategic thinking and decision-making skills that have been beneficial on the pitch.

Reporter: That's fascinating, Erich. Thank you for sharing that with us. We wish you the best of luck for the rest of the season with Melbourne United.

Erich Shafer: Thank you, I appreciate it.
