Interview: Kehlani Mataele on Balancing Fun and Success on the Pitch

Reporter: Kehlani, you have been in exceptional form this season with Blue Devils Busan. What do you attribute to your success on the pitch?

Kehlani: Thank you. I think it comes down to a combination of experience and skill. I've been around the block a few times and I know what it takes to perform at a high level. Plus, I have a natural talent for defending that I work on honing every day.

Reporter: You mentioned that you enjoy clubs that invest in team chemistry and culture. How has that influenced your time at Blue Devils Busan?

Kehlani: It's been great here. The team has a strong bond both on and off the pitch, and I think that shows in our performances. We all have each other's backs, and that really helps us succeed.

Reporter: You have a reputation for not being the hardest worker but still putting in the work. How do you balance having fun with meeting the expectations of the club?

Kehlani: It's all about finding that balance. I know when it's time to buckle down and focus, but I also make sure to enjoy myself and keep things light. As long as I'm performing on the pitch, I see no harm in having a good time off it.

Reporter: Can you share a random interesting fact about your life off the pitch?

Kehlani: Well, I actually have a twin brother who plays basketball professionally. It's always been a friendly rivalry between us, but we support each other no matter what. It's nice to have someone who understands the pressures of being a professional athlete.

Reporter: Thank you for your time, Kehlani. Best of luck for the rest of the season with Blue Devils Busan.

Kehlani: Thank you, it was a pleasure.
