Veteran Defender Nejla Novotny Discusses Team Chemistry and Their Unorthodox Approach to Training
Interviewer: Nejla, thank you for sitting down with us today. Let's start with a question about your favorite aspect of clubs in general. You mentioned that you appreciate teams that invest in team chemistry and culture. Can you elaborate on that?
Nejla Novotny: Absolutely. In my opinion, a strong team chemistry and a positive club culture are crucial for success on the field. When players genuinely enjoy each other's company and support one another both on and off the pitch, it creates a strong bond that translates into better performance during matches. It's a great feeling to be a part of a team that feels like a family.
Interviewer: That's interesting. Now, let's talk about your recent form. You've been performing well despite being known for having a weak skill set. How do you manage to contribute positively to the team?
Nejla Novotny: Well, I may not have the flashy skills of some of my colleagues, but I make up for it with my experience and understanding of the game. I focus on playing to my strengths, which is defending, and always give my best on the field. I may not be the most talented player, but I compensate by being reliable and dependable for my team.
Interviewer: Speaking of work ethic, how would you describe your approach to training and practice?
Nejla Novotny: I wouldn't say I'm the hardest worker out there, but I definitely put in the necessary work. I believe in striking a balance between enjoying the game and meeting the expectations of the club. I never turn down an opportunity to have fun, but I also understand the importance of discipline and maintaining a certain level of fitness to perform well.
Interviewer: Your health and fitness have been a topic of discussion in the past. Can you shed some light on your unconventional philosophy when it comes to taking care of your body?
Nejla Novotny: (laughs) Ah, yes. I've had my fair share of injuries and setbacks, but I've always found a way to power through. I don't take the usual approach to maintaining my health. While others may consider their bodies a temple, for me, it's more like a ruin. However, I do believe that my unorthodox methods have contributed to my longevity in the game. Time will tell if I age well or not.
Interviewer: Fascinating. Let's move on to lighter topics. Do you have a favorite club to play against?
Nejla Novotny: Definitely SLB, that is Sporting Lisbon. The rivalry between our clubs has always been intense, and I relish the challenge of facing them on the pitch. The atmosphere during those matches is electrifying, and it brings out the best in both teams.
Interviewer: Lastly, what is your favorite formation and play style?
Nejla Novotny: I enjoy playing in a 4-2-3-1 formation, where I can hold down the defense and provide support to the midfield. As for play style, I have always been drawn to the art of defending. There's something incredibly satisfying about anticipating an opponent's move and making a crucial interception.
Interviewer: Thank you for sharing your insights with us, Nejla. Before we wrap up, can you give us a quick update on Cordoba Gauchos' current ranking and the number of goals conceded this season?
Nejla Novotny: Currently, our team is ranked second out of ten teams in the league. We've had a solid season so far, and we're aiming to maintain our position. As for goals conceded, we've let in 15 goals thus far, which is not ideal, but we're constantly working on tightening our defense.
Interviewer: Thank you once again, Nejla, and best of luck for the rest of the season.
